A couple of nights ago, my wife and I had one of those long, interesting conversations about life, the universe, and everything, the kind of conversation you are more likely to have at the beginning of a relationship and not 15 years in.

Nice one!
ReplyDeletethree things...
ReplyDelete1) Why say 15 years in, as if its abnormal? I would say should be normal, unfortunately just rare.
2) What the narrator forgets, or does know understand, or know, or... :) Is that humans in general have a severe problem in using the phrase "I dont know". Too often its seen as a sign of weakness, but in this example of God's non-existance maybe its a good choice, for 'belivers' its represent the ultimate catch 22 how can you believe if you say 'dont know'. Maybe the words should change to accomodate the unknown...rather say 'I hope'.
3) The video makes an errounous assumption too, about peoples behavoiur in that 'what does it say about you', well if God didn't exist, or you completely disavowed any believe in such existance, then you have a quandry, people can do anything, kill murder rape steal, why, because the fear of what might happen is taken away. And if that happens...pardon the pun, then all hell breaks loose. So maybe God is or was 'created' or exists as another mechanism of 'control'.
